After a wait of more than six years, the story of the twin worlds of Stark and Arcadia has finally continued. This story began with the game The Longest Journey (TLJ), one of the most beloved games in the Adventure game genre. TLJ told the story of young and attractive art major April Ryan. April lived in a not-so-distant future, one in which the world of Stark, not unlike Earth, and a sister world, Arcadia, a world of magic, were threatened by the designs of some rather nefarious beings.
| Time has not been kind to April, she is not the same woman we knew in TLJ. |
It turned out that April was a “Shifter” and she was able to move, at will, between the two worlds. TLJ told her story, as she worked diligently to restore the balance between Stark and Arcadia, in a wonderfully written tale. An unbalance had occurred due to the actions of the above mentioned people, who will remain nameless to avoid TLJ spoilers. Needless to say, their work threatened both worlds, and the player, as April, played a pivotal role in setting things right.
That story (and I use the word “story” instead of “game” purposely) was told over several game discs, with a great interface, many plot-related twists and turns, and more than 20 hours of terrific gameplay, graphics, humor, and voice acting. It was these characteristics that made TLJ so memorable, while in the process creating very high expectations for any sequels.
| Meet Zoë Castillo. You’ll be spending most of your time with her. |
After that very long wait, fans of TLJ have finally gotten their wish for a sequel, with the release of Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Was the wait worth it? In my opinion, yes. A game like Dreamfall is very difficult to categorize, mainly because I didn’t feel like I was playing a game at all – it was more like watching an interactive movie (more on this later). Let me also say this: While Dreamfall is a game that can stand on its own, it is extremely beneficial to have played TLJ as well, so you have some familiarity with the storyline, the twin worlds, and some of the major characters who make repeat appearances in Dreamfall.
Dreamfall tells the story of another attractive young woman named Zoë Castillo, who, like April before her, is a resident of Stark. Also, like April, she is oblivious to the existence of Arcadia. And finally, like April, she’s in for a rude awakening. Zoë has recently returned home from college, after dropping out, and has also recently broken up with her boyfriend, Reza. We meet Zoë when she awakes in her room in her father’s house in Casa Blanca. She is a woman who has lost her sense of direction, and doesn’t seem to care about anything anymore, not even herself (other than going to the gym, which she hasn’t quite given up on yet).
You can read all of this in the website of the writer, we have used this as just an example, here you have the full address:

Fire evacuees 'worried sick' at Qualcomm
SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- Many among the thousands of evacuees from California's wildfires were suffering from stress and worry about their homes after seeking shelter at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium, said a pair of Navy medical volunteers Wednesday.

Navy medics Daniel Brautigam, left, and Jacob Hackfeld volunteered to help wildfire evacuees.
The stadium -- home to the NFL's Chargers -- at one time housed 11,000 evacuees, but that number dropped to 7,500 this morning. ñ.
Of the thousands of people who've been sleeping, eating and passing time at the arena, many are showing symptoms of stress, said Petty Officer Daniel Brautigam.
Patients are showing "a lot of smoke-induced nausea," he said. "A lot of people are watching TV while they're here -- they're watching their houses burn."
Brautigam said the word "panic" came to mind to describe how some evacuees were feeling. "But it's not. People are just worried sick. That phrase alone explains it all."
According to the San Diego's mayor's office, medical staff treated between 70 to 100 people since the stadium opened to evacuees.
He said counselors are being made available to the evacuees at Qualcomm, where volunteers have also been providing food, tents and cots to families and others fleeing the fires.Hey ,this was a story from CNN.
